Welcome: Cordova Neighborhood Church

If you are from Cordova Neighborhood Church, we welcome you to the Socks & Gloves website and to our blog (I made an announcement for Socks & Gloves today at my church's services). Please have a look around and let us know if you have any questions regarding what we do or ideas for how you might like to get involved. Also, if you are looking to sign up for Turkey in the Park, please scroll down several posts or click HERE.

Remember too, you do not have to be experienced in working with the homeless to become a part of the Socks & Gloves team. All you need is love. Stepping out to interact with the homeless is a wonderful thing, and we understand too that it can sometimes be a stretch out of our comfort zones to do so, so take one step forward (maybe coming to Turkey in the Park), and we look forward to partnering with you and supporting you as we adventure together in this thing. The truth is that none of us are experts at loving the homeless and we all have so much room to grow. The most important thing is that we are moving forward to learn to be people who regularly and thoughtfully advocate for those who are down-and-out and for the poor. Didn't Jesus do stuff like this?

Simple ways to get involved:

1. Come with us on an event.
2. Donate stuff (there will be a donations box at the church every week).
3. Come to special events (Turkey in the Park, Christmas morning...)
4. Invite your friends.
5. Collect socks, gloves, beanies, etc.... at your workplace.
6. Other: Do you have any ideas and abilities to bring to the table that may benefit the homeless or Socks & Gloves? We love to see creativity and expression emerge from those who participate.

On behalf of everyone involved in the Socks & Gloves family, we look forward to working together and to seeing lives changed (ours included).
