This week the Public Housing Waiting List applications process begins at the Sacramento Housing Agency. Applications will be accepted 1/22/07 - 2/1/07. From the application process 10,000 applicants will be randomly selected and sequenced by computer to be on a waiting list for about 3,500 public housing units. HUD funding makes this program available so that affordable quality housing will be made available to a variety of people who will pay a portion of the housing costs from their own income.
This program will not be accepting applications again for two years after the above named period; so, if you know someone who might benefit from a housing assistance program like this connect them with the link below or provide them with an application from the link if they do not have Internet access.

This sounds like a good thing, especially for those who are struggling and need a little extra help to get back on their feet. I didn't read all of the requirements on-line, but I wonder if a full-time job is needed.
Just heard about two people who signed up on the list as a result from the information in this post.
Awesome. It's all about networking, eh?
I don't know whether the job needs to be full-time. I think there just needs to be some income outside of the the housing assistance. Selected residents will pay up to 30% of their earnings depending on what is revealed from the application process. The housing assistance pays for the remainder of the housing costs.
