HOMELESS STREET COUNT & HOMELESS SURVEY
These efforts help to point funding to homeless needs. Your time can make a big difference.

Volunteers are also needed for a “Homeless Survey” that will take place during daylight hours the week of February 5th. Volunteers will work in groups of 2 or 3 at various locations to conduct a brief survey of homeless individuals. RSVP if your want to volunteer by sending your name e-mail and work and cell #'s to Carol Fleming from the Sac. County dept. of Human Assistance via email at flemingc@saccounty.net or fax it to Carol Fleming at 874-4343. Street Count: RSVP to volunteer by Fri., 1/19/07
On January 30, 2007, starting at 4:00 a.m., Sacramento County will be conducting a homeless street count. The count will take place on:
Date: Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Time: 4:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Your help is needed for this very special project! The information gathered during the street count is necessary for multiple local agencies to receive federal grant funds for homeless housing as well as being a critical component of Sacramento City and County’s 10-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness.
Your investment of time will have a significant positive impact on the thousands of individuals in Sacramento County who are without regular shelter.
On the day of the count, volunteer teams consisting of 3-5 volunteers will canvass various areas of the county to count the homeless over a two-hour period. The count will consist of visual-only observations of homeless individuals—no interviewing or waking sleeping people is involved.
Numerous agencies and organizations will be coming together in this community-wide collaborative effort.
Important: A 2-hour mandatory training meeting will be scheduled the week prior to the count, date and time to be announced later.

I signed up to do the Survey. Looking forward to it. Thanks again for the 411.
I'll be doing the survey, too. I haven't heard yet what kind of time frames they're looking at for this; but, I am eager for the opportunity to both interact with the homeless in a way that might help procure better funding, while also getting a look at how the survey is crafted. :)
