Coffee Donations

I wanted to write a quick post and give props to Starbucks. When asking them this morning if they would be willing to partner with us in providing coffee for our holiday meal on Sunday, they were quick to say yes (the Rancho Cordova shop). I have noticed also that most Starbucks in the local area have made an effort during the past two months to collect blankets and jackets for those in need, whereas some other Ma & Pa shops have not initiated those opportunities for customers (this is ironic because sometimes it is easy to gripe about corporations and think of them as The Man).

The manager today quickly said "yes" and that if she did not have the proper coffee travel containers, that she would help to find something else (the travel equipment is sparce during this time of year and the smaller containers will not hold as much). That's good business and for Sunday's sake, I hope that everything works out to our advantage and that the manager is able to track down the large containers. I think that the addition of quality coffee will be a fantastic part of our shared meal.

This reminds me of how important it is for business, whether corporate or small, to find ways to give to the community and help other people. In my mind, and as a business owner, I think that business is about so much more than just profit. Greenbacks-- yes, and hopefully alot of 'em, but impacting people for the greater good and finding ways to sacrifice-- oh yes.

NOTE: If you encounter a business that is willing to donate toward this meal or any other future work we do, and they need a Tax ID Number for a company that is helping to sponsor the event along with other individuals, please talk with me and I will be happy to work with the business so long as it is for an event that we are doing. This could be a powerful tool to utilize as we obtain resources from the community.

Ry,

I'm glad to hear that you're willing to use LAC's tax ID for these events. Way to go! Thanks.

The owners of my company gave me enough bags of socks, gloves, and blankets today that my xB is full to overflowing (in both the backseat and the front passenger seat). I'll put them in touch with you about the write-off.

House of Grace- Yeah, that's the good stuff and I think that partnering with local businesses in such a way is relevant, especially if we can actually get tax relief for doing altruistic things.

Tyson- Wow, that is so cool that your company put together so many items. Just have them give me a call and I can provide them with what they need and hopefully it can be considered a write-off for their purposes. They will have to be the ones to determine that, but I will certainly provide them with information and Tax ID and all that to hopefully make that possible.
