For now, good job everyone on interacting with others and in being so creative with what we passed out. I loved the flashlights, cookies, gift packs, soap, clothing, underwear, juice boxes, dog food, shirts, blankets, beanies, socks, gloves, and toddler socks. This was good stuff. And for those who are coming from a Christian perspective, it was very cool to see prayer and spiritiual encouragement.
Let's keep doing this and let's learn how to be people who live a lifestyle of service and who often pay attention to those who are many times overlooked. And be thinking about what creativity and leadership you can bring for these times and also how to raise awareness and support for this as we will need more and more warm gear as it really starts to get cold. I know that Tyson mentioned that he has put the event in his work's monthly newsletter and Kellie was thinking through how to release vision for this in a group she has Bible study with, and I am intent to ask two local coffee houses if they would be open to having a cardboard box available for blankets and such.
More dates for January through March TBA soon.
Lastly, it was unanimous that Turkey in the Park is a go on December 10th at 2:30pm. A flyer will be put together soon as well as a sign-up sheet. The neat thing about this too is that it is a full Thanksgiving-style meal which we eat WITH the homeless. This is not a food hand-out, but really a dining experience together where social and classist norms are defied in the name of respect and love.
Thanks again everyone. You are an inspiration and it is so great to see love in such simple ways. In closing, a man told us last night, when handing him sandwiches, "this will get me through tomorrow, thanks. It's been hard lately." That's what this is all about....

I'd like to echo Ryan, it was a great time last night. I was hoping we would be able to serve more folks, but that was something that Ann had pointed out could be a problem, so not a big surprise. No major disappointment there, though, and in reality, it's not about numbers but about being out there to serve and love, whomever we come across.
Thanks especially to Ann for sharing some words of wisdom & advice, for those of us who are new at this.

Good words, Eric. Yeah, props to Ann. I emphatically agree that it was helpful advice.
I appreciate your feedback, guys. I'm also really glad to see so many people eager to join in things like this. It's awesome!
