O.k
I finally made my way into blog world... I think... we will see. I am not sleeping over the encouters I have had last night I am praying for Jr. and that doors are opening for him. I am also so disturbed by finding out there is a young teenage girl out there with a 3 mo. old baby who wont go into the shelter because she is a minor and they will most likely take her baby away. I get really pissed off at this system, This mother loves her baby as much as I love mine, all 3 of them and we have no place for her to go without loosing her child. Hate It. I am also just mad because I always have a diaper bag in th car and I took it out last night and I could have offered diapers and wipes and clothes. Sometimes I just dont get why God puts me here even though I could not help.I want to be intentional. Sometimes what I see and hear is to much. But I cant go back. Now that I have had the experiences I have had. It truly is my passion. Its hard sometimes you see and hear about things you wish you didnt, but that is what it is about, we have to be intentional and have the passion to make a diffrence. If Christ came down right now I know he would not be hangin out with any of us, He would be in the margins, HE would be at North b. We need to just be his hands and feet and learn from all of our experiences. I Love all your hearts . PEACE,
KELLIE

Wow, that is really intense. It is hard to believe that a teen is out there with her child. I can't imagine that the State would confiscate her child unless there are drugs and hardcore neglect involved. Am I ignorant? Who knows of resources that we could point this girl to or any young mother out on the street?

THAT IS THE CONCLUSION THAT WE KINDA CAME UP WITH, THE GIRL HAD NO DIAPERS OR ANYTHING FOR THIS BABY, A LADY CAME UP TO US ON BEHALF OF THE GIRL, SAYING SHE HAD ALMOST NOTHING FOR THE BABY AND HER PARENT HAD KICKED HER OUT AND SHE HAD A 3MO. OLD AND SHE WOULD NOT GO INTO THE SHELTER BECAUSE SHE WAS SCARED. MOST LIKLEY TO LOOSE HER BABY, I AM GOING TO CALL ST. JOHNS FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN THE AM TO SEE IF THIS IS THE CASE, I WILL GO FIND THE GIRL AND BRING HER TO ST JOHNS MYSELF IF SHE CAN STAY THERE AND BE PART OF THERE PROGRAM.
What about these resources from the CSPC's InfoLine emergency shelter list?
My Sister's House
(916) 428-3271 Help Line
Sacramento Crisis Nursery
Information Line (877) 543-7752 - 24-hours
Parents' Support Line (888) 281-3000 – 24 hours
We don't know whether this young mother has a substance abuse dynamic going on, or is escaping a violent environment; but, even in the best of circumstances she'll look suspect for having her baby on the street in such dire conditions. If the baby is withoutu clean diapers she'll look neglected in the best of circumstances. If there's a way to keep her baby out of harm and with her mother, I think it behooves us to try to see if there are any shelter resources for underage parents.
I totally agree. I will try to find out more info on these shelters and see what we can do, thanks for the tip, I just cant imagine wanting to do right by your child and not having the resources or know how, and to be underage on top of it.
So here is what I found out for our teenage mom, I left a message for My Sisters house but have not heard back. Salvation army does not allow minors in and only single men and women, St. Johns only allows adults, no minors. Crisis nursery is for children only, parent can not stay there but have acess to there children. Here is the good news, I talk to a lady at Wind youth center, she is actually going to ask around for her down town, she would be able to stay at there shelter and get some help however the baby would have to go to the crisis nursery. She said if she found her she would let me know. Ann I will email you the contact for Wind youth center and another lady I talk to at Crisis nursery. Lets pray for a good outcome for Michelle and baby Kayla.
Peace

Hey everyone-
This is a great resource. Check out http://sacramentopros.org/shelters.aspx when you have time. It lists a number of emergency shelters in our area. As we go out, it'll be helpful to be aquainted with these.
Awesome work, Kellie! I'll look forward to getting the contact handles.
Ryan, the link to the emergency shelters, rocks. Thanks! Can you add this site to the link list on the side of the blog?
