Socks & Gloves Review
I posted some pics below from our Socks & Gloves trip out earlier tonight. Instead of me piecing together some thoughts, why don't we comment below about what we thought of the night, what worked, what encouraged us, things we noticed, things to continue doing, people we encountered, etc... and also any constructive feedback too. Great teamwork everyone and thanks to all who donated generously for this event. Let's keep up the good work.

I liked having the kids with us. Their enthusiasm was great. Ty had a great recommendation to pair off so that one child is assigned to each adult so that they're never overlooked.
I agree, the kids were cool and while with us, let's all take ownership over their safety. Good tip Tyson. We had great stuff to give away too. I liked that there was prayer going on also and I encourage us to grow in that vein for those of who are coming from that perspective. Dan's tire popping was a bummer, but hopefully he was able to have everything fixed up.
It was a cold and rainy night, so I think that everything we passed out was really needed and used. I have left over blankets and clothing from our night, so if anyone would like to use them before next time, please let me know and you can take what we have.
I think we did well at connecting with people and I only encourage us to continually get "stuck" in conversation with others. Building relationships where we learn people's names is very powerful and in the context of relationship, is where we will see the most life change. I am awed by how well some of our group connects with others and it is neat to see everyone playing a role in relating to the homeless, whether that is handing out something or having a deep conversation.
Prayer Requests Shared to Remember:
1. Curtis has a busted leg.
2. Mac asked for prayer for prostate issues.
3. Elle (I think) said to pray for whatever.
4. Tasha did not look well.
5. Eddie said he is called to the ministry but needs to stop running and that "the ministry is in his blood line" because he has family members who are preachers.
6. Others?
Lastly, from a regular we see named Pam, I learned that Dorothy is staying with her daugther right now. That is great news because she is currently off of the streets (she is in her 60s). Let's hope that it continues and that things are healed up with family.
I thought the night went well and we are glad the crew didnt mind the chidren. I thought having them was huge. What they learned and what I learned from them. I love your concern for them also.
I had a roofless friend finally give me something and it touched my heart. It was just a pair of shoes, that didnt fit but what touched me was what that means when we all share with each other. It made money seem worthless if even just for a second.
Props to Ryan for remebering all the names and pray requests.
Every time we go out I learn more about myself and where I need to be.
Praise God!
