There is a walk in honor of MLK on Monday, January 15, 2007 in the Sacramento area. It begins in Oak Park and ends at the Sacramento Convention Center where a job fair and other resources will be available (what a cool ending). I did this walk four years ago and it was really neat to walk with such a large and diverse crowd, and in a small way then, to take a stand to bridge gaps in our culture. You can read more on the MLK 365 site , which is the organization that puts this event on (they have an amazing mission statement).
Anyone interested in doing this walk? All in all, it is about 5.75 miles from Oak Park to the Convention Center. I am considering it, but I want to check in with some others and I would also first have to have total permission from the household too. Last time I went alone and it was really great, but I do admit that it is nice to hang with friends at these types of things. And if we do get a group together, maybe we could meet up at Bucks early for coffee and scones and possibly read through something that MLK wrote as a meditation before we get our 5 miles of excercise in for the day. Sound inspirational?
