Great Job Everyone!

What an amazing job of networking together to pull off a great Turkey in the Park event tonight! It was good to see some of the friends we met last night in the Ahearn area at Fremont Park tonight. We also saw our friend Ron who was playing the Trumpet on I Street last night. We also have new friends from Craigslist, Cordova Neighborhood Church, City Life Church and a number of other local churches who joining together to donate a boatload of stuff including food of all kinds, socks, gloves, blankets, and much much more.

Thanks to everyone for pitching in!

Can't wait to see the pic's and video from tonight posted. We'll put up some links as the images get uploaded. In the mean time, post a comment to remind us of a friend or two who you met that you'll be remembering this week....

See you all for our next Socks and Gloves event on Sun. 12/23/07 at 6PM meeting at Caesar Chavez Park.

I met a man named W who has been going to N.A. meetings in attempts to break addiction and stay clean. He says that he has been off the stuff for 12 months now. It was good to talk and encourage him. I'll definitely remember him.

I was excited to see so many volunteers interacting with our guests. I thought that some of the newbies especially, did really great.

i just have to say that me & my family had such a fun time at turkey in the park. everyone was so nice & helping out just came naturally. my teens are already asking to join the next event so that's our plan. there were quite a few people that i have thought about all night & will continue to remember, not for their situation but for their personality & the funny conversations that we shared. one comment that does stand out is a man said he thought it was great that so many parents came w/ their kids & they aren't afraid of the "bums". i never though twice about not bringing them w/ us. the best part about watching my little ones interact w/ everyone is they only saw people getting together for a picnic in the park. they had fun making new friends. without being exposed to the negative status that the homeless hold it truely is just people getting together to have a meal together. i loved that i saw so many smiles & that may be what i will remember the longest. thanks for a great time & we will definately be at the next event....rosie & family

Kel and I are so humbled at the event and how simple conversation can be so huge. I met some people that I will never forget and I am forever changed by people I talked to.

So many people have commented to me that they and their kids felt so comfortable at the event! Everytime I drive by Fremont park I see someone wearing one of the bright orange SMUD beanie caps that we gave away (thanks to Dan). It warms my heart to see our efforts actually warming someone's head. :)
